Montenegro is amazing. There are palm trees on the shore and the ambient temperature reaches +20 C there, but if you’ll go to the north of the country, you’ll get to the real ski resort. People who like to go skiing to the snowy slopes get together in the cozy Alpine-style town every year, from December to April. Kolašin is located in one of the cleanest areas of Europe, surrounded by ancient forests of Biogradska Gora national park. The trip from Budva by car will take around 2 hours, by bus – 3-3,5 hours. The trip from other coastal towns will take a little longer.
2035 meters is the maximum altitude to climb here. The ascending starts from the Kolašin 1600 ski center. Kolašin 1450 ski center is a little lower, 1973 meters is the maximum altitude to climb. Slopes are equipped with chairlifts and ziplines, one of them is for kids. A mantle of snow reaches three meters in Kolašin. When there is not enough snow, snow cannons are used on the slopes. You can rent equipment and clothes; beginners can hire a professional instructor.
Skiing and snowboarding are not the only ways to relax in the resort. You can enjoy cross-country skiing, ice skating, sledding, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. There are restaurants in ski centers, also there are a lot of authentic restaurants serving local and Mediterranean dishes. There is a couple of night clubs as well. You can stay in 2-4-star hotels in Kolašin, or one of the multiple private apartments. Large companies can rent chalets. Shuttles shunt between the towns and the ski centers regularly, the distance is 10 and 12 kilometers.
Kolašin is more attractive than many European resorts in terms price-quality ratio. The cost of the rest is lower here, but the service is very good it is constantly getting better. Beautiful surroundings and cultural monuments will help diversify sports activities; there are canyons of Tara and Moraca rivers, ancient churches and monasteries.
