What do you think about Christmas celebration under the palm trees? If you like it, you don’t have to fly 10 to 12 hours to the tropical courntries. It’s only 2-3 hours from most European airports to sunny Montenegro. In December and January, the air warms up to 8-10⁰C, at noon the sun can get and 20⁰C. In Budva, a stage with modern special effects is built at the walls of the Old Town for the holidays. Every day, starting from December 25-26, Balkan and foreign stars perform in the rays of laser show. The entrance is free. Rock, classics, jazz, pop, electronic music — there is a repertoire for every taste. Locals and tourists sing to the artists, dance, warm up the coffee, and then stronger in numerous pubs and restaurants nearby. The streets are lively and fun these days. The closer you get to New Year, the more festive the atmosphere becomes, and on December 31 New Year’s celebrations culminate.
On New Year’s Eve in Montenegro it is not customary to stay home. Of course, it’s not cold outdoors, but concerts and discos are held in the open air. The mobile pavilions offer mulled wine and hot snacks. At midnight, the sky above the waterfront is illuminated by fireworks, beautifully reflected in the seawater. The festivities continue until dawn, and in the morning people go out to drink coffee in the coastal cafes, which set tables right on the beach.
