Small towns and villages with no distinct border in between line out the coast of Montenegro. Beautiful landscape is everywhere by the sea, although in the hinterland it’s no less impressive. Resorts are distinguished by the distance from the airport, types of beaches, the number of entertainment venues. Prices also vary, but slightly. Your vacation in Montenegro can be quiet and peaceful in a small village away from the tourist centers — or dynamic with a rich nightlife in a large settlement with developed resort infrastructure.
Part of the Adriatic Sea, bordering the coasts of Montenegro, is closed in the Bay of Kotor. If you like ancient architecture, you will enjoy the coastal villages built up with medieval villas, temples and fortificatins. The big cities here are Kotor, Risan, Herceg Novi and Tivat. The bay is amazingly beautiful, but there is no open sea here. There are no spacious beaches either, but narrow pebble banks and quays with stairs. One of the two airports of the country is located in Tivat. It’s no more than 20 minutes by car from the city center. If you are flying to Montenegro on vacation, you are likely to land here. It takes from 30 minutes to get to other towns of the Bay of Kotor.
The farthest coastline city from the airport is Ulcinj. It is situated in the south of Montenegro, near the Albanian frontier. The area is famous for its 13 km long ‘Great Beach’ with black volcanic sand. The place was loved by surfers — the sea surface without islands and bays is always covered by waves. For a smooth coastline, this area of Montenegro is often chosen for family recreation. It takes about an hour and a half to go from Tivat to Ulcinj by car and up to 2.5 hours by bus, if the route is interchangeable. 20 km to the north is another major coastal city, Bar. It has the Old Town untouched by civilization, a seaport with a ferry to Italy, but it’s not considered a tourist town because of farness and not so picturesque streets.
The best holiday in Montenegro is guaranteed in Budva and the surrounding villages. Together they form the Budvan Riviera, the most “beachfront” and “well-placed” area of the country. From here, the center of the coast, it is convenient to travel all over Montenegro. Your vacation will be different and rich here. In Budva, life is jolly day and night, there are water parks, spa centers, night clubs, and casinos. There are many historical and cultural attractions as well – both in the city and its nighborhood. Tivat airport and Kotor can be reached in just 20-25 minutes. The beaches of Budva are pebbly or sandy, spacious and picturesque. To enjoy all this without urban noise, live in Harmonia Aparthotel in a quiet area between Budva and Becici. From the apartment terrace you can see the bay with Old Town and beautiful mountain peaks./p>
